February 28, 2020. Heading home.

6:30 am we leave the hotel for the airport. Time to head home. Unfortunately, we have to contend with a strong jet stream (in the wrong direction).  Lisbon to San Francisco will be 12 hours. Then a hop to Sacramento for me, and a 1.5 hour drive home with Jim.  Joy is going back to Columbus from San Francisco. Poor thing won't be home until morning. We are grateful for another exciting and safe trip, and being able to live for a few days in a couple of different cultures.

Our last day in Lisbon. Today's highlight was the local market. Always love the beautiful flowers in markets around the world. Ken Krohn Shelton: Is this an old family business? The biggest hit of this market: the nuts and dried fruits and veggies.

February 26, 2020. Lisbon by TukTuk.

Nothing like a couple of hours in a TukTuk on a cool Wednesday morning! Our hotel is in a great spot. We are across from a square, where the trolleys pass by and pick up passengers. Some sights around town. Roman Ruins. Love the tile on the outside of houses. Love the side streets and steps -- everywhere. The tiles on the walls are so pretty. Beloved Fado Singer: Amalia Rodrigues  The Castle. Looks like the Bridge of Sighs. And, now we are in Paris? Parliament. Haven't done this yet.

February 25, 2020. Porto.

What started out to be a beautiful morning turned into a rainy, cold afternoon.  Early morning Lisbon, on the way to the Metro and train stations  We have gotten good at the metro. Took the metro to the train and headed 3.5 hours to Porto. The scenery along the way was gorgeous, as well as the town. (The train windows were sooooo dirty...no great pictures.) Unfortunately, most of the town of Porto was closed due to Fat Tuesday. Hardly anyone was around. I guess they were saving themselves for nighttime activities! We were hoping to get great pictures of the Duoro River and all the fabulous bridges from the train. Didn't work so well.
