February 14, 2020. James Town.
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!! Well, Joy and I wanted to visit a local fishing village. We got a little more than we bargained for . . . Here is James Town! All of these people will be homeless when this new complex is built. The old fort, with the lighthouse behind. Flies are free. James Town started as a British Fort. It was not far down the coast from the Dutch Fort. They both have palaces across from the fort, and a block apart, where their current "chiefs" reside. Britsih Palace. Dutch Palace. On our way back to the hotel, we stop to visit the monument and mausoleum for Ghana's first President, Kwame Nkrumah. He is credited with helping Ghana gain independence in 1959. Field Trip!
